How to Support Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga

Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga creates a strong foundation for families to build better lives. Through partnering with volunteers and community partners, Habitat builds affordable houses. The homes are then sold to local families with a mortgage tailored to no more than 30 per cent of the families income. Along with this, families volunteer 500 hours during the construction process.

Creating affordable housing is made possible through the generosity of our supporters. As building season gets underway, one way that you can support Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga is through Gift in Kind (GIK). GIK are charitable donations of products or services that assist in the home-building process.

GIK include (but are not limited to) supplies like lumber, drywall and windows. Services, such as bricklayers and skilled trade, are also welcomed gifts. We are always looking for “out of the box” GIK donations, such as hardhats or work boots. All of these donations help to keep our building costs as low as possible. And, of course, we could not move forward on home construction without our volunteers. In 2016, Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga had 3,334 volunteers who volunteered over 105, 313 hours! There are an infinite number of ways to volunteer with us, from helping out on a build sites to working in an office.
