Meet Our 2018 Canada Summer Jobs students

As summer is around the corner for many, it is already in full swing for these university students. This means that right as they put their textbooks down they were picking up their resumes to find a summer job. These students joined the team here at Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga-Dufferin thanks to Pam Damoff, MP for Oakville North-Burlington, and the Canada Summer Jobs program. Read on to get to know our wonderful summer students!

Fun fact: “I love escape rooms.”
Favourite thing about his job: “There’s so many, but I really think that my favourite is that I have a place that I can come into every day and it’s not just a place of work. It is giving back to the communities that we are part of, and I think that that’s what really is the most important part of my job. What I do, what other people do, it all comes back to the same thing. It’s about supporting the communities and supporting families and giving them a hand up in the community.”
Sherina Harris
Title: Brand Ambassador
Program: Sherina is going into her third year of studying journalism at Ryerson.

It’s been an incredible experience to talk to families who have become homeowners with Habitat. Hearing their stories and sharing them through writing has inspired me to continue using what I’ve learned through studying journalism to contribute to Habitat’s vision of a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live.”
