These traditional territories upon which we live and work, are steeped in rich Indigenous history and customs. We acknowledge that we are on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Tionontati (Petun), Attawandaron (Neutral), Haudenosaunee (Six Nations), Anishinaabe, Huron-Wendat, and Ojibway/Chippewa peoples. We are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land, and by doing so, give our respect to its first inhabitants. May we all, as Treaty People, live with respect on this land and live in peace and friendship with all its diverse peoples.
Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga-Dufferin remains steadfast in our support for finding and telling the truth. We invite you to learn about the history and culture of Indigenous communities in Canada, the history of residential schools, and treaties around the country. Browse our National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Resources below to start your learning journey.

Did you live near a residential school?
The residential school system separated 150,000 Indigenous children from their families — and the last one closed in 1997. Was one of those schools in the community where you grew up?
CBC News has created a page with an interactive map you can also hear directly from survivors of these schools.
