Milton ReStore: Open for Business

Our new Milton ReStore is open for business! We have big news to share with you. Drum roll please… our Milton ReStore has finally re-opened! Saturday, July 27th the doors swung open to welcome its customers for the first time. With a space double the size of our previous Milton ReStore location, shoppers eagerly filed through the entrance to see what awaited them inside.

Previously, our Milton ReStore was located inside an old post office building downtown, at 25 Brown Street. Owned by the town, Habitat HM’s lease for this location expired at the end of June.

Dining room furniture at the Milton ReStoreThis left our organization searching for an alternate space that would allow us to continue offering residents of Milton quality items at affordable prices.

When we found this location at 700 Main St. E., we knew it would be the perfect spot for our new ReStore. When driving down the street, the first thing you’ll see is a larger-than-life Habitat blue sign welcoming you into our store.

With our new home secured, we were sure that the bulk of the battle was behind us. But of course, this wasn’t the case.

Because the building had been unoccupied for two years prior to our move-in, it had been disconnected from hydro, leaving it without power and leaving our set-up crew in the dark. It truly is a testament to the dedication of our volunteers and staff who were working tirelessly for weeks with only generators and portable lighting. Despite these roadblocks, our team was able to get everything set up and ready in time for our soft opening.

Relocating is always a difficult process and we’re so happy to be settled in our new home.

Not only are we back, but we’re back bigger and better than ever before. The new ReStore is double the size of our previous location. With 13,000 square feet of useable space, we’ll be able to stock even more quality pieces than ever before.

This building was formerly a Rona hardware store, so it made the transition of moving into the space much easier on us. We kept most of the original layout of the store the same and made great use of their shelves and organizers to display our items.

Tools for sale in our Milton ReStoreWe wanted our new ReStore location to serve the Milton community as best as it can and a bigger store means a wider selection of quality items for sale. The more floor space we have, the more items we can sell and the more revenue we can generate to support the construction of affordable housing within our community.

Our Milton ReStore will differ slightly from our two existing locations, in that it has more shelving and display hooks than our other stores. You can expect to see more small appliances, home electronics, seasonal items and home décor at this ReStore than in our other two.

Grand opening… coming soon!Small appliances for sale in the Milton ReStore

With our larger space, we’re able to accept even more donated pieces than ever before. This means you’ll have more selection of gently-used and brand-new items so you can find the perfect piece for your home. Come visit us today and see what all the buzz is about!
