Five unique donations from Habitat HM’s Partners

Five unique donations from Habitat HM’s Partners

Double D crane helping us with some heavy lifting at our Crew-Goetz build site.

When Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga started in 1999, we had a strong dependency on partnerships and donors to help fund our mission of providing safe, decent housing to families in need. Today we still operate with the same need as we continue to maximize our involvement within the community. In doing so, we have grown many meaningful partnerships with local businesses that have helped us reach our goals year by year.

We would like to recognize just a few partners that have gone above and beyond to help us with our mission. Their unique contributions vary from capital funding to material donations, to providing free physical space to house our equipment. Whatever it may be, their support has helped us fund new builds, create more opportunities for families and maximize our operations in our offices and ReStores.

We at Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga would like to specifically thank five of our valued partners.

IKEA Burlington

This year, IKEA Burlington offered a major hand-up in the production of our Queensway build. Their donation of 18 fully-equipped kitchens for all townhomes was a major stepping stone to our team’s success, and we could not be more thankful. IKEA Burlington has been a continued supporter since 2017 and has helped make a sizeable difference in our community. Thank you for your support IKEA Burlington. With companies like you by our side, we know we can make a difference.

CanLift

CanLift began with humble roots in 2009 with the goals to provide excellent customer service and build relationships along the way. Throughout their success in servicing customers across North America, CanLift became no stranger to helping Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga with our goal, too. Their generous donation of a telehandler has helped our building sites operate safely and efficiently. From May 2018 to March 2019, CanLift has also continuously provided brand new material donations to our ReStore. Through their support, Habitat is able to continue providing affordable homes to families in need. Thank you CanLift for being a valued partner of our organization.

Emshih Developments Inc.

Emshih Developments Inc. has been a major supporter of Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga through its unique donation of free warehouse space. Our construction projects require a lot of space to house tools and equipment but our affiliate does not have the storage space to keep it. For our team, this was a great way to give back and still provide that level of help we need to keep going. Thank you to the members of Emshih Developments Inc. for providing that space so we can continue operating efficiently.

Sawmill Sid

With a donation of wood worth over $10,000, Habitat was able to build new homes quickly and sustainably thanks to local wood repurposing business Sawmill Sid. At Habitat, we are thankful to partner with an organization that values homeownership affordability, but also one that values reducing their carbon footprint through sustainable business practices. Habitat has continually been focused on recycling old materials and diverting them from landfills, and partnering with an organization that has similar values is a giant step in achieving our organizational goals. Thank you, Sawmill Sid, for your generous contribution to Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga. Please be sure to support local wood and “capture the carbon” in Canada by visiting Sawmill Sid in Mississauga.

Whirlpool

Whirlpool recently partnered with Habitat for Humanity to bring in over 60 brand new scratch and dent appliances to our Burlington ReStore. Any donation to our ReStore is sold for a reduced cost and the money collected is reinvested for new builds in the community. By receiving this donation, Habitat will be able to expedite current projects and help families receive the help they need. Thank you Whirlpool Canada for your generous donation and commitment to affordable homeownership.

This is just the latest project we’ve worked on together in a very long established relationship our organizations have together

We can’t possibly put into words the gratitude we feel for the individuals and organizations that generously donate to us. Thank you to all of our donors and partners who have helped our organization with a hand up. Through your support, we have the ability to change lives.
