This 5-bedroom unit is being offered under Habitat HMD’s Deferred Homeownership model. Essentially, this acts like a rent-to-own agreement where you will rent your unit for a period of 9 years (upper only), with the aim to purchase the entire unit (including the basement apartment) at the end of the rental term, provided that all the terms of the Partnership Agreement have been satisfied.
Once the selected family has completed all of their partnership requirements (e.g. 500 volunteer hours), they will be eligible to join Habitat’s Earned Credit Program where a portion of the rental payments will be held in trust via an Escrow Agreement with Habitat. These earned credits can be used as a future down payment for the purchase of your Habitat home.
Please note that Habitat mortgages may be held directly by Habitat HMD or through a third party bank/lender and include interest.
